In general, as the silicon content of silicon steel sheets increases, iron loss, punching and magnetic susceptibility decrease, and hardness increases. The higher the operating frequency, the greater the eddy current loss, and the thinner the selected silicon steel sheet should be.
Requirements for performance of silicon steel:
1. Low iron loss is an important indicator of the quality of silicon steel sheets. Each country classifies grades based on iron loss values, with lower iron losses indicating higher grades.
2. Under strong magnetic fields, the magnetic induction intensity (magnetization) is high, which reduces the volume and weight of the iron cores of motors and transformers, saving silicon steel sheets, copper wires, and insulation materials.

3. Smooth, flat, and uniformly thick surface can improve the filling coefficient of the iron core.
4. Good punching performance is more important for manufacturing micro and small electric motors.
5. The adhesion and weldability of the surface insulation film are good, which can prevent corrosion and improve the punching performance.
The iron loss of silicon steel sheets is a very important technical indicator. According to the national standard (GB/3655-2008), Epstein square circle or standard magnetometer (500SST/1000SST) is used as the basis for inspecting and evaluating the iron loss of silicon steel sheets. This method is also recommended by IEC standards and national standards.
The quality of silicon steel sheets depends on their material and processing technology, which directly affects the quality of downstream products. The stamping and annealing methods in the processing technology are very important. Transformers made of silicon steel sheets with small and large stamping burrs of the same material have a performance difference of 7%. Transformers made of silicon steel sheets with the same material that have been annealed under nitrogen protection have a performance difference of 7-10% compared to those made without annealing.
